Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about Coastal K9's services?

So did our clients! Here are a few we have gotten quite a bit.

What methods does Coastal K9 use?

Coastal K9 uses a balanced approach in training. It is important to use motivation when teaching dogs new behaviors, and equally as important to have accountability in place to ensure consistency and safety. I utilize food, toys  and remote collars as tools while training.

When is payment due?

Payment for the chosen program is due at the first lesson. This holds both clients and myself accountable to see the lessons through. In certain cases  flexibility can be provided to make the financial commitment easier.

How long and frequent are lessons?

Each lesson is roughly an hour. Some dogs fatigue faster and require small breaks throughout, so it is not uncommon for lessons to run a little longer. We try and schedule once per week, but life happens so this can altered as  needed.

Do you guarantee your work?

I guarantee that I will provide you with the knowledge and tools to ensure your dog’s long term success. That said, a dog’s reliability will mirror the consistency of training and accountability from the owner. “Practice Makes Perfect  Permanent”

What resources are available after my lessons have concluded?

Your ongoing success is important to me as a trainer. Throughout the lessons I  encourage clients to film instructions and repetitions so that they have “game  film” to refer back to. I also provide a tip sheet, and make myself available via phone, text or email if any questions arise.

Do you offer a Military/First Responder discount?

Absolutely! Active or retired receives 5% off any program.

Will all lessons be conducted at my home?

At first lessons are at home with minimal distractions. As dogs progress in their  ability we will increase the challenges by moving to different environments

Do you offer a discount for multiple dogs?

No. Through experience I have consistently found that homes with multiple dogs being trained actually require MORE work and attention. Because of this  prices remain the same.

What if I am not sure what program is best for my dog?

Contact me! Part of my job is to formulate the best plan of action for you and your dog’s unique goals. Fill out the contact form to give me a few details about your situation and we can work together to find the best program!
